NCFD residents respond to Navalny's appeal to monitor election

After a video appeal of Alexei Navalny, residents of at least five regions of Northern Caucasus have filed applications to be registered as observers during the presidential election. This was reported by an agent of the Alexei Navalny's office in Stavropol.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on February 20, oppositionist Alexei Navalny called on residents of Dagestan, Chechnya, Ingushetia, Kabardino-Balkaria, and North Ossetia to observe the course of the presidential election scheduled for March 18 and expose a "forgery" of the traditionally high figures of voter turnout.

In Northern Caucasus, the Alexei Navalny's office operates only in the Stavropol Territory. Meanwhile, the oppositionist has "a lot of followers" in the North-Caucasian Federal District (NCFD), as evidenced by "numerous appeals of residents of Northern Caucasus to the Alexei Navalny's office in the Stavropol Territory and central offices," the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was informed by Ivan Tansky, a coordinator of the Alexei Navalny's office in Stavropol.

Several groups will be sent to the republics of Northern Caucasus to train volunteers of the Alexei Navalny's office to secure they will be able to attend the election as observers. The training will also take place via the Internet, Ivan Tansky noted.
