Friends of a Kuban resident report his death in Syria

Oleg Tereschenko, a native of the Cossack village of Krylovskaya, a private military company fighter, was killed in Syria, his friends and acquaintances reported. The number of the deceased people can also include Russian citizens, but that assumption requires verification, the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) commented on the incident in Syria.

The "Wagner's Private Military Company" (Wagner's PMC) is a military unit formally not affiliated with the Russian Ministry of Defence (MoD). The "Caucasian Knot" referred to the data of the newspaper "Novaya Gazeta" of October 9, 2017, stating that, according to participants of the combat actions in Syria, the number of killed mercenaries of the "Wagner's PMC" is estimated in dozens.

At least four acquaintances of Oleg Tereschenko reported his death in Syria. According to one of his acquaintances, he was killed on February 7.

On February 7, the international coalition led by the United States struck the troops that attacked the positions of the Syrian Democratic Forces. Meanwhile, according to media reports, fighters from the "Wagner's PMC" were killed.

On February 15, at a briefing in Syria, Maria Zakharova, the official spokesperson for the Russian MFA, commented that according to the preliminary information of the Ministry, "the reports may refer to the deaths of five persons, presumably Russian citizens," but they were not Russian servicemen.
