Relatives of missing Derbent resident come to a protest action

On February 11, relatives and friends of Aslan Shikhakhmedov, a former official of the Derbent administration, who disappeared on February 8, gathered in front of the FSB Department in Derbent. The protestors believe that Aslan Shikhakhmedov could be detained in connection with police raids in Dagestan and demanded from law enforcers to report his whereabouts.

The relatives of Aslan Shikhakhmedov reported that at about 4:00 p.m. on February 8, he was taken away from the Kirov Park in Derbent to some an unknown destination.

On February 10, the father of the disappeared man filed a complaint to a police station of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) in Derbent. "I assume that Aslan was kidnapped and illegally deprived of liberty. So, I ask to institute a criminal investigation into the kidnapping of my son A. G. Shikhahmedov and take measures to find him," the Aslan Shikhakhmedov's father wrote in his complaint, a copy of which is available to the "Caucasian Knot".

"When on February 10, I filed to the police station a complaint about my son's kidnapping, he phoned me several times from different mobile phone numbers and asked me not to file any complaints anywhere and to arrange no protest actions. It is clear that he has phoned under the instructions of the people who illegally keep him," the father of the disappeared man told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

On February 11, Gasanbek Shikhakhmedov also addressed the acting leader of Dagestan Vladimir Vasiliev with a request to inform him about the whereabouts of his son and "to ensure the realization of his right to defence."
