Kazim Nurmagomedov's arrest appealed against

Today, an appeal complaint has been lodged to the Kizilyurt City Court against the judgement to arrest Kazim Nurmagomedov, a resident of Dagestan accused of aiding and abetting terrorism, Abdurashid Sheikhov, an advocate, told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on February 1, the above court ruled to imprison Kazim Nurmagomedov for two months. Investigators' suspicions have to do with Marat Nurmagomedov, Kazim's younger son, Mr Sheikhov has suggested.

Kazim Nurmagomedov on January 31, was detained in Moscow by law enforcers in police uniform. Later, he was taken to Dagestan.

Son of Kazim Nurmagomedov, Shamil Nurmagomedov, was accused of financing the "Islamic State" (IS), a terrorist organization, banned in Russia by the court. Shamil Nurmagomedov claims that he had transferred money to his brother Marat to help him to get out from the territory controlled by the IS*. The "Caucasian Knot" published an interview with their father Kazim Nurmagomedov entitled "Bring back alive: From Dagestan to ISIL* to return the son".

Oleg Orlov, a member of the board of the HRC "Memorial", has treated the persecution of Nurmagomedov family as "an outrageous case.". In his opinion, instead of helping people who try to liberate their relative "from terrorists' clutches," the authorities manifest themselves as "a crude, unjust and brutal force."

"It's a paradox: they punish the people who managed to free their relatives from the IS ("Islamic State", banned in Russia by the court, – note of the "Caucasian Knot"); thus, the state de facto contributes to the formation of terrorist forces, and force the people who found themselves in terrorist formations to stay there," Mr Orlov shared his version with the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent, supposing that now the parents, who have learned that their children are interested in ideas of banned organizations, will not seek help from the authorities.

*"Islamic State" (IS, ISIL) is a terrorist organization, banned in Russia by court.
