In Ingushetia, investigation into resonant case of torture completed

Except for the charges of robbery and violence, Timur Khamkhoev, a main defendant in the case of torture at the Ingush police, is charged with forgery of documents, the "Kommersant" reported on January 30.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that in December 2016, Timur Khamkhoev, the chief of the Ingush Centre for Combating Extremism (CPE), and criminal investigator Adlan Khamkhoev were detained. Their detention was initially explained by the investigation into the case of extortion of money from an Azerbaijani resident, and then they were charged with involvement in the death of 50-year-old Magomed Daliev and torture of his wife.

The former agents of the Centre for Combating Extremism (CPE) of the Ingush Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA), including Timur Khamkhoev, the chief of the unit, were charged in the final wording. According to the final charge, the police officers extorted money from entrepreneurs and also tortured detainees, one of whom, local resident Magomed Daliev, died, the "Kommersant" reports in the article "The Ingush police officers charged with using torture", published on the edition's website on January 30.

According to a source close to the investigation, Timur Khamkhoev is also charged with forgery of documents. During the investigation, the suspicions have appeared that the diploma on legal education of the CPE chief was false. Those suspicions are confirmed by the verification, the "Kommersant" reports.
