"Republican Party of Armenia" puts Armen Sargsyan forward to run for presidency

Today, Serzh Sargsyan has proposed to Armen Sargsyan, Armenian Ambassador to Great Britain and Northern Ireland, to run for presidency.

During a meeting of the "Republican Party of Armenia" held on January 18, members of the Party approved Armen Sargsyan as a Party's candidate to run for presidency. Today, Serzh Sargsyan has officially announced the candidate's name, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent learned from the press service of the presidential administration.

In 1996-1997, Armen Sargsyan was the Prime Minister of Armenia.

According to the preliminary information, the presidential election will be held on March 2. The new president will be elected for seven years, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was informed by the ruling party.
