Eight "Strategy-31" activists hold solo pickets in Volgograd

On October 31, 2017, in Volgograd, activists of the "Strategy-31" campaign held four solo pickets in defence of the freedom of assembly.

The picketers stood 50 meters apart and hold posters, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent reports.

Nick Linkevich, a pensioner and the chairman of the regional branch of the "Western Choice" Party, held a poster reading: "Restore the constitutional system in Russia for the rule of law and a decent life!"

Over 2017, the social situation in Volgograd worsened, the activist said. "Housing and communal tariffs are on the rise; life grows harder; pensioners are starving, having not enough money even for bread," Mr Linkevich has stated.

Olga Makarycheva, another Volgograd pensioner, also told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent that the situation in the region had deteriorated during 2017. Elderly people were especially affected, as they receive very low pensions, the woman has added.
