MPs support Dagestani women returned from Syria
Three Dagestani MPs have reminded investigators that prior to their voluntary return from the Middle East, Zagidat Abakarova and Muslimat Kurbanova, now kept in a temporary detention facility, signed letters with acknowledgment of their guilt.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on October 24, Zagidat Abakarova and Muslimat Kurbanova were taken in custody in Makhachkala, despite the fact that both women were taking care of their babies.
Zagidat Abakarova is charged under Part 2 of Article 208 from the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (participation in an illegal armed formation (IAF)). This was told on December 17 to the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent by a Zagidat Abakarova's advocate, who preferred to remain anonymous. According to the advocate, Zagidat Abakarova has pleaded guilty, and there is her signed confession in the case materials.
According to the advocate, the defence has filed a motion to close the criminal case, since there is an acknowledgement of guilt and "active repentance."
Besides, the case also contains motions filed by three MPs from the People's Assembly who requested a public prosecutor to consider the letters with acknowledgement of guilt signed by Zagidat Abakarova and Muslimat Kurbanova and "make a lawful decision," the advocate reported. However, he did not mention the MPs' names and the date of their motions.
