One of Gubden casualties identified as Aligadji Khamutaev

Aligadji Khamutaev, shot dead during a counterterrorist operation (CTO) in Dagestan, was involved in eight murders and attack on the convoy of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA), the police have stated.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that this morning law enforcers have started a shootout with the alleged militants who were hiding in a private house in the Dagestani village of Gubden. During the storming of the house, three militants were killed, the police have reported.

According to the Russian National Antiterrorist Committee (NAC), during the Gubden CTO, Aligadji Khamutaev, the leader of the "Gubden" grouping, who was on the federal wanted list since February 2012, was killed.

Special services had suspected the 31-year-old Aligadji Khamutaev, named Ali, of murdering eight people, as well as of attacking a motorcade of one of the MIA units, the "Rossiyskaya Gazeta" reports citing the NAC.

According to the newspaper, Khamutaev headed the grouping in October 2016, after Abubakar Udziev, the previous leader of the "Gubden" grouping, was killed in a CTO in Gubden.
