Thirty people were evacuated for the time of Stavropol CTO

The residents of Stavropol, evacuated for the time the counterterrorist operation (CTO) was conducted, could then return to their homes after all the activities were over.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that at night on December 9, the counterterrorist (CTO) legal regime was introduced in the centre of Stavropol. An official from the FSB Department for the Stavropol Territory has mentioned the prevention of a terror act as the purpose of the special operation. According to the law enforcement bodies, three militants were killed in the course of the CTO.

Vladimir Vladimirov, the Governor of the Stavropol Territory, said that during the CTO, evacuation of people was organized from the "houses closest to the location of criminals." Transport was provided for the evacuation.

"For the time of the CTO, about 30 people were placed in the building of School 10. After the end thereof, tenants were delivered back to their homes," the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was told by the Governor's press service.

According to the source, there were no victims among civilians and law enforcers.

Anastasia Borodinova, a student of the College of Arts, who lives in a hostel located in the CTO area, said that the shootout was not long.

"Around 4:30 a.m., I saw FSB vehicles through my window; then I heard two explosions and gunfire. After the explosions, the shootout lasted for about 40 seconds; and then everything died down. Apparently, the CTO was over by then, since all the roads were already open. Residents of our hostel were not evacuated," she told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.
