UNM supporters stand up for Mikhail Saakashvili
Today, participants of the action organized by the "United National Movement" (UNM) Party have marched through the streets in Tbilisi in protest against the actions of the Ukrainian authorities and the law enforcement bodies against former Georgian President Mikhail Saakashvili.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on December 5, law enforcers who searched a Mikhail Saakashvili's apartment in Kiev detained him, despite the protests of his supporters. However, the supporters of the former Georgian President appeared to be able to take him away from the law enforcers. Mikhail Saakashvili called on people for a protest against Ukrainian President Poroshenko.
The "Caucasian Knot" correspondent has been informed by Georgian MP Giorgi Baramidze, one of the leaders of the opposition "United National Movement" Party and organizers of the protest action, that the march gathered about 8000-10,000 people.
The Ukrainian Prosecutor's Office is prosecuting Mikhail Saakashvili under far-fetched pretexts, noted Tina Bokuchava, an MP from the "United National Movement" Party, who took part in the protest action.
"First he was accused that he took a million US dollars from a Ukrainian oligarch who fled to Russia, and then they said he took half a million. All those accusations are false," Tina Bokuchava explained to the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.
According to UNM members, the Party intends to publish an action plan later.
