Makhachkala picketer demands to build a new school in his village

Today, Ramazan Abdulkarimov, a resident of the Khebatli village, has held a solo picket in the central square of Makhachkala. He has demanded to build a new school in his native village.

"For seven years, I've been trying to draw the authorities' attention to the problems of the school. I have appealed with letters to a lot of institutions starting from the Prosecutor's Office and finishing with the leaders of the republic. However, I get only formally replies. Officials from the district administration say that no money is allocated to repair the school building," Ramazan Abdulkarimov told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

According to the activist, in his village, the school building was built in 1965. Since then, no complete repair has been ever arranged. At present, 80 children go to the school, and there is no other school in the village, noted the picketer.

Ramazan Abdulkarimov emphasizes there is no normal heating in the school. "In winter, there are stoves burning in classes, and there is no other heating. There are no stairs in the school: they are replaced by hemps. There is no normal furniture," Ramazan Abdulkarimov stated.

During his protest action, officials from the Dagestani leader's office came to Ramazan Abdulkarimov. They have found out what demands the picketer voices. And they have registered him to meet Vladimir Vasiliev, the acting leader of Dagestan.
