Two natives of Chechnya detained in Ukraine
A native of Chechnya, detained in Kiev, was put on the international wanted list as an accomplice in the murder of US citizen Pavel Khlebnikov, the editor-in-chief of the Russian Forbes magazine. This was reported by the Ukrainian Security Service in Facebook. Another native of Chechnya was detained in the Poltava Region.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on July 9, 2004, Pavel Khlebnikov was shot and killed near his Moscow office. This was the first contract killing of a Western journalist in Russia. Investigators associated the killing of Pavel Khlebnikov with the murder of Yan Sergunin, the former Vice-Premier of Chechnya, and later with the murder of Anna Politkovskaya, an observer from the newspaper "Novaya Gazeta".
In 2005, the General Prosecutor's Office of Russia disclosed the names of Chechen residents accused of killing Pavel Khlebnikov, including Kazbek Dukuzov, his brother Magomed Dukuzov, Musa Vakhaev, Magomed Edilsultanov, and others. Khozh-Akhmed Nukhaev was mentioned as the customer.
The Russian citizens detained in Ukraine were put on the international wanted list as persons involved in especially serious crimes, reports the Ukrainian Security Service (known as SBU) with reference to Interpol.
One of the men left Russia and joined an organized criminal grouping, which in Ukraine extorted money from entrepreneurs.
The second detainee, a native of Grozny, was wanted for committing serious and especially serious crimes in the countries of the European Union. For a long time, he was hiding from investigators and used forged documents. In 2013, the man fled the courtroom in the Norwegian city of Sandvik.
