Mikhail Saakashvili appeals against his second refusal of asylum in Ukraine

Mikhail Saakashvili, the former President of Georgia, has filed a lawsuit against the Migration Service of Ukraine, which had twice refused to protect him against extradition from the country.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that Mikhail Saakashvili was deprived of his Ukrainian citizenship in July. On September 10, he broke into the country across the border with Poland. On October 11, Mikhail Saakashvili applied for asylum in Ukraine, but was refused. On October 26, he filed a second request for asylum.

On November 1, the Migration Service of Ukraine again refused to grant the request filed by Mikhail Saakashvili. His advocates challenged the refusal at the court.

"The decision of the Migration Service is unfounded and violates the Mikhail Saakashvili's right to get protection from Ukraine from possible illegal extradition to Georgia on false charges," states a message posted on the Mikhail Saakashvili's page in Facebook.
