Russia credits Armenia to buy military equipment

Yerevan has signed an agreement with Moscow on obtaining a 100 million US dollar credit for buying weapons, the Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan has reported.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on October 12 Armenia approved the agreement on obtaining a credit for the purchase of weapons and Russian military equipment with the repayment period of up to 2037. The credit funds should be spent in 2018-2022.

President Sargsyan has noted that by the end of 2017 the previous agreement will be finalized, the RIA "Novosti" reports.

In September 2015, Vladimir Putin and Serzh Sargsyan signed an agreement on a privileged credit for renovation of the arsenal of the Armenian Armed Forces.

The Armenian authorities hope that Russia will continue providing credits for the modernization of Armenian weapons, Mr Sargsyan has added.

According to his story, the Armenian Armed Forces are "well equipped," but should develop further, the TASS reports.

Let us note here that Russia delivers weapons to the other side of the Karabakh conflict – to Azerbaijan. On June 24, a large batch of weapons arrived in Baku.
