A woman from Grozny taken away by law enforcers returns home

In early September, Petimat Mamaeva, a resident of Grozny, was taken by law enforcers to some unknown destination. For a month and a half, relatives of the woman knew nothing about her whereabouts. Petimat Mamaeva returned home after the story of her disappearance got resonance in social networks.

In the evening on October 19, a video appeal to Ramzan Kadyrov from a woman of Grozny was disseminated through WhatsApp. In the appeal, a weeping woman addressed Ramzan Kadyrov in Chechen and asked him to help return home her 28-year-old daughter Petimat Mamaeva. According to the woman, in the evening on September 6, her daughter was taken away by unidentified law enforcers from their house in the village of Chernorechye.

Later, WhatsApp users disseminated another appeal from the Petimat Mamaeva's mother, in which the woman asked everyone to help bring her appeal to the leader of Chechnya.

Those appeals have provoked public resonance in the republic.

The "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was informed by a close friend of the Petimat Mamaeva's family members that the disappeared woman returned home in the evening on October 21.

"After Petimat was taken away by soldiers, her mother Yakha appealed to various agencies. However, officials did not accept her complaints and kept saying that her daughter would soon return home. The mother got already desperate and recorded an appeal to Ramzan Kadyrov. And literally on the next day, Petimat Mamaeva was released. They do not tell us where she was kept and for what reason she was detained," said on October 24 a woman from Grozny who preferred to remain anonymous.
