Students report threats of being dismissed for failure to attend match of "Akhmat" FC

Football fans have expressed their disappointment with the performance of football players from the Grozny FC in the visiting match with the "Ural" FC team. On October 22, the match ended with the defeat of the "Akhmat" FC team. Under the threat to dismiss rectors of higher education institutions and kick out students, the authorities of Chechnya ordered to ensure a 100% turnout of football fans for the next match of the "Akhmat" FC team to be held in Grozny. This was reported by students.

On October 22, in Yekaterinburg, the match between football players from the "Akhmat" and "Ural" FCs ended with the score of 0:2 in favour of the "Ural" FC team. In the previous match of the championship held on October 13 in Grozny, the "Akhmat" FC team was also defeated by the Moscow "Spartak" FC team with the score of 2:1.

On October 14, the day after the defeat of the "Akhmat" FC team in the match against the "Spartak" FC team, an official from the Chechen authorities held a meeting at an assembly hall of the Chechen State University (ChSU) with rectors and students of the Grozny higher education institutions. This was told to the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent by a ChSU student.

"[The official from the authorities] has expressed his indignation about the fact that the recent match was attended by too little number of fans. He spoke of the lack of patriotism and demanded to submit lists of those who failed to attend the football match. The official threatened to dismiss all 'negligent' students," the student said.

Umar, another participant of the meeting, has confirmed the student's report. "On [October] 30, a football match between our team and the Dagestani 'Anji' FC team will be held at the 'Akhmat Arena'. The turnout of fans should be 100%, otherwise everyone, starting from a rector and ending with an ordinary student, can really face very big troubles," said a student of a higher education institution.
