Children, returned from Iraq, delivered to their relatives

Five children-natives of Chechnya and Dagestan, who were brought on October 11 from Iraq to Moscow, have been handed over to their relatives at the Grozny Airport.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on October 11 three Chechen boys, the oldest aged six years, and two girls, whose parents had lived in Dagestan, were brought from Iraq to Moscow.

The girls’ relatives have confirmed that their parents perished in Iraq, explaining that their mother, according to their information, died in a camp near Mosul from a heart attack. The Dagestani girls will be brought up by their grandmother, relatives said.

The three Chechen boys were handed over to their grandmother and aunt, the sources said.

According to Anna Kuznetsova, the Children's ombudsperson, all the five children are healthy and speak Russian, the press service of the Human Rights Council (HRC) under the Russian President has reported today.

Ziyad Sabsabi, a Senator of the Federation Council, who is engaged in searching for and evacuating Russian children from the Middle East, said that in Iraq they managed to find a mechanism for children’s evacuation. "We managed to find a mechanism allowing evacuating children, although all of them have violations, namely, at least illegal crossing of the state border," the HRC’s website quotes him as saying.
