Tsulukidze, Alexander Grigoryevich

Revolutionary movement activist, literature expert.

Born November 1 (13), 1876, in a village of Khoni, Georgia, in a noble family. In 1896, joined Kutais Social Democrat group; conducted revolutionary work in Tiflis and Baku. In 1897-1899, was a non-credit student of Law Department of Moscow University, was a member of student Marxist circle. In 1900-1901, led the strike of Tiflis workers and a workers' circle in Batumi, cooperated with Brdzola (Struggle) newspaper. In 1902, participated in the creation of Kutais, Imeretino-Mingrelian, and other Committees; in 1903, was one of the organizers of Caucasian Union Committee of RSDRP (Russian Socialist Democrat Workers' Party). After RSDRP's second congress, became a Bolshevik. Was a co-founder and editor of Proletariatis brdzola (Proletariat's Struggle) newspaper. Authored a number of theoretic works, in which criticized the views of "legal Marxists", bourgeois nationalists, and Mensheviks; was one of the first Georgian Marxist literature experts.

Died in Kutaisi on June 8 (21), 1905. Buried in Khoni.

  • Defender of Sochi gardeners' rights claims illegal prosecution

    Law enforcers have conducted a search of the home of Tatiana Polivanova, an activist, and her family members in Taganrog in connection with a fraud case with land plots of the Sochi National Park. The Polivanova's organization provided legal assistance to dozens of gardeners whose plots were seized by the court within this case.
