Neighbours speak of Don Cossack executed in Syria

Roman Zabolotniy was carrying out a military mission in Syria. This was reported by Anatoly Kotlyarov, a member of the Rostov City Duma and one of the Cossack's friends. Neighbours of Roman Zabolotniy said he took part in military operations and sang in a Cossack choir.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that, according to Victor Vodolatsky, the former ataman of the All-Great Don Army and a member State Duma, Roman Zabolotniy was executed after he had refused to become a militant. Earlier, Don Cossacks identified a man who reported on the video about his capture in Syria as Roman Zabolotniy.

On October 5, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent visited the village of Rassvet in the Aksai District of the Rostov Region, where Roman Zabolotniy lived with his family members.

Roman Zabolotniy sang in the Cossack choir in the Krasny Kolos village and played the accordion, said a local resident.

According to his neighbours, Roman Zabolotniy lived in an apartment with his wife and little daughter.

Prior to his departure to Syria, Roman Zabolotniy took part in the combat actions in Donbass, said Anatoly Kotlyarov, a member of the Rostov City Duma. According to him, Roman Zabolotniy was killed during his first trip to Syria.

Roman Zabolotniy went first to Donbass and then to Syria as a member of the private military "Wagner's company", said a Cossack's friend. According to him, the Cossack called his friends to go with him, but no one agreed.
