HRC "Memorial" criticizes Moskalkova’s reaction to substitution of missing persons in Chechnya

Tatiana Moskalkova has promised to send repeated requests to Chechnya about the fate of people from the "execution list", but this will give no fruit, because the requests will get to the same power agents, Oleg Orlov, a Board Member of the Human Rights Centre (HRC) "Memorial", is sure. Mr Moskalkova said herself said that she had known about the pressure on relatives of missing persons applied before her arrival in Grozny.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on September 20, Chechen authorities brought two men from the “execution list” to Grozny. However, instead of Makhma Muskiev and Shamkhan Yusupov, power agents brought their brothers to the meeting with the Russian Ombudsperson, the HRC “Memorial” asserts.

Ms Moskalkova knows that her request will be redirected from the Russian MIA to the Chechen one, Oleg Orlov said, explaining: "It means that the ‘check’ will be conducted by the same power agents, who had brought the above two to the meeting."

Tatiana Moskalkova has added that other information from the HRC “Memorial” will be checked, namely, about pressure on missing persons’ relatives, who received threats for their intents to complain to the Ombudsperson. She noted that she had received signals about harassments and names of particular power agents.
