Russia hands more than 10 military trucks over to Abkhazia

The Russia’s Ministry of Defence (MoD) has started delivering military equipment to the Armed Forces of Abkhazia under the agreement on the joint troops grouping.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on November 2, 2016, the State Duma ratified the agreement on the joint Russian-Abkhazian armed grouping. The US State Department called the agreement illegal.

The today's Russia’s transfer of military equipment to Abkhazia was the first practical step within the agreement. The Abkhazian MoD has received over ten Ural trucks and other equipment, the TASS reports.

"Everything starts small – we’ve received excellent equipment," the "Apsnypress" quotes Mukhamed Kilba, Secretary of the Abkhaziaz Security Council, as saying.

On September 13, Russian Armed Forces began their exercises in Abkhazia, which were regarded by the Georgia’s Minister of Defence as a violation of international norms and a threat to his country.
