Five border guards injured during Mikhail Saakashvili's breakthrough to Ukraine

On September 10, the former Georgian President Mikhail Saakashvili and his supporters broke through a border cordon to the territory of Ukraine. The police launched an investigation into the case of illegal crossing of the border.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on July 26, it became known that Mikhail Saakashvili was deprived of the Ukrainian citizenship. The former Georgian President claimed he did not agree with the decision and announced his intention to return to the country.

On September 10, Mikhail Saakashvili and his supporters broke through a border cordon near the Shegini checkpoint on the border of Poland and Ukraine. Meanwhile, Mikhail Saakashvili did not pass the border control. According to journalists from the "Rustavi 2" TV Channel, he was supported by several thousand people, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent reported.

In connection with the Mikhail Saakashvili's breakthrough to the territory of Ukraine, the police for the Lvov Region instituted a criminal case on the illegal transfer of persons across the state border, reported Artyom Shevchenko, the press secretary for the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) for Ukraine.

A fight occurred while supporters of Mikhail Saakashvili broke through the border, and 11 policemen and five border guards got injuries, the "Interfax" reports today.
