Rights defenders: human rights violations in Myanmar and Northern Caucasus not to be compared

The international human rights organizations "Human Rights Watch" (HRW) and "Amnesty International" (AI), which earlier claimed human rights violations in Northern Caucasus, has pointed to numerous cases of armed attacks on civilians in Myanmar and demanded to let rights defenders enter the country. According to Ekaterina Sokiryanskaya, an expert for Northern Caucasus, the most serious cases of human rights violations in the North-Caucasian Federal District (NCFD) are not comparable with the persecution of Muslims in Myanmar.

To assess the situation, the rights defenders only use the information from refugees and their respondents in Myanmar, as well as photographs from satellites.

The HRW images show signs of fires in dozens of villages and towns. The Muslims themselves reported that soldiers and policemen burned down their houses and committed armed attacks.

According to the UN, recently more than 90,000 Rohingya Muslims fled to Bangladesh. According to a staff member of the humanitarian mission in the Rakhine State, Muslims are starving in their houses, and those who try to escape are killed and their houses are burned down.

In general, in Moscow, Makhachkala, and Grozny, local residents came to rallies of solidarity with Rohingya people by call of their hearts, believes expert Ekaterina Sokiryanskaya.

According to her, the problem of the persecution against Rohingya in Myanmar excites Russian Muslims, as well as most Muslims and people professing other religions around the world.

Since the protest could not be suppressed, it was necessary to lead it, and Chechen leader Ramzan Kadyrov did that, notes Ekaterina Sokiryanskaya.

However, the expert believes that many people treated the Ramzan Kadyrov's initiative with sarcasm.

"In social networks, Internet users posted a lot of statements about human rights violations committed by the Chechen regime itself," Ekaterina Sokiryanskaya explained.
