Social network users treat rally in Grozny in support of Myanmar Muslims as useless

The today’s mass rally in support of Moslems held in Grozny was useless and belated, as the authorities of Myanmar, Russia and China will not take into account the Chechnya residents’ appeals. Users of social networks write about it ironically commenting on the over million-strong rally.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that the participants of the rally have adopted an appeal to Russian President urging him to use his influence to stop the "genocide of Muslims" in Myanmar.

Since this January, Murad Musaev, a well-known Russian lawyer, has been working within the project aimed to render legal aid to victims of persecutions of Myanmar Muslims, entitled “Rohingya Alert”. Speaking about actions in support of Myanmar Muslims, he noted that "the peak of the information boom has occurred in recent days", the "Dozhd" (Rain) TV Channel reports.

Vladimir Baev, a user of social network "VKontakte", suggests that the rally in Grozny could be 500,000-strong, but not a million.

Other users of social networks drew attention to the fact that the authorities of Chechnya have only now paid attention to the situation in Myanmar, although the problem of persecuting Rohingya people had existed there for several years.

Law enforcers assert that the rally in Grozny gathered 1.1 million people, while the “Rosstat” reports that the entire population of Chechnya is 1.4 million.

In his turn, Lechi Abakarov drew attention to the anti-Western rhetoric at the rally.

Anton Orekh, a journalist and an observer of the "Echo Moskvy" Radio, recalled in his blog that he runs on the website of the radio, that "Kadyrov had already convoked a million-strong rally in Grozny after the attack on "Charlie Ebdo". In his opinion, Kadyrov is "able to instantly mobilize any number of people."
