Over 8000 take part in Memory Watch for Beslan casualties

Today, North Ossetia finished the mourning events on the 13th anniversary of the terror act in Beslan. They were attended by more than 8000 people, according to the republic’s Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA).

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that the Memory Watch began on September 1. For three days, mourning music was heard at School No. 1, where hostages were captured and kept. This morning a liturgy was held in the School gym.

On September 1, 2004, militants took 1128 hostages and kept them in the gym of School No. 1 in Beslan. In total, 334 of them, including 186 children, perished, other 810 persons were injured.

Nikita Panov, Deputy Director of the Russian Patriotic Centre, said that within the state programme of patriotic upbringing he is implementing, for the second year, jointly with the Association of Heroes of Russia, the project "Dialogues with Heroes". This year, he brought three heroes to North Ossetia, including Colonel Vyacheslav Bocharov, who released hostages in Beslan.

Many residents of Beslan, who lost their relatives in the terror act, note that they need not financial help, but a fair investigation of the militants’ attack and the special operation to liberate the hostages.

Some survivors of the terror act add that they would not use the benefits so as not to cause pity in people. Thus, according to a student of the Vladikavkaz University, she tried to hide all the documents on benefits.
