Defence asks Kadyrov to study the case of Taramov and Tazbiev

Khava Akhmadova, an advocate for Magomed Taramov and Djamalai Tazbiev, residents of the village of Krasnaya Turbina, told the "Caucasian Knot" today that there are procedural violations in the case. At the court session on August 29, the advocate urged the head of Chechnya, Ramzan Kadyrov, to take the case under his personal control.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that Magomed Taramov and Djamalai Tazbiev, residents of the Grozny village of Krasnaya Turbina, were detained after a militants' attack on Grozny in December 2016. According to the newspaper "Novaya Gazeta", they complained of torture, and their relatives were beaten by policemen after more than 150 residents of Chechnya had requested General Prosecutor Yuri Chaika to punish the persons guilty of torture. The local residents consider the information about torture to be true.

According to advocate Khava Akhmadova, Ramzan Kadyrov "can make the right decision, only after understanding the essence of what had happened." As of August 31, there was no information about Kadyrov’s reaction to the advocate’s appeal.

In the opinion of Khava Akhmadova, the case of Taramov and Tazbiev has no proofs of their guilt. "They have never had any intention to go to Syria and kill people," she told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent today.

Khava Akhmadova said that she decided to take on the case of Taramov and Tazbiev "after she learned from their relatives that the case was brought to the court through torture and false testimonies." "Apart from physical pressure, my clients were also under psychological one," said the advocate.
