Abdulatipov orders to speed up payment of compensations to Mokok fire victims

The waiting list for compensations contains persons, other 336 fire victims from the village of Mokok, Tsuntin District, will have to confirm their right through the court, the authorities of Dagestan have stated. Ramazan Abdulatipov, the head of the republic, has instructed his subordinates to immediately transfer the list of victims to the Russia’s Ministry for Emergencies (MfE).

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on August 21, one year after the fire in Mokok, about 200 fire victims held a protest action demanding payment of compensations within a month. The burnt down village "looks like the Syrian city of Aleppo," say the locals.

Mr Abdulatipov has held a sitting on the compensation issue to fire victims. It was announced at the sitting that the process of compiling lists for compensation payment "stands still because many villagers have no housing documents."

By August 25, the right to receive compensations was confirmed by 251 villagers, who had been registered in Mokok. According to Ramazan Djafarov, Deputy Prime Minister of Dagestan, other 336 people stated that they had lived in Mokok and lost their property in the fire, but failed to confirm their statements with documents. Therefore, most of the fire victims can confirm their right to receive compensations only through the court, says the website of the head of Dagestan.
