Friends of Chechen singer Zelim Bakaev report his kidnapping

Relatives of Chechen singer Zelim Bakaev who lives in Moscow cannot reveal his whereabouts since August 8. Zelim Bakaev was kidnapped by law enforcers in the centre of Grozny, two singer's friends reported.

According to a female relative of Zelim Bakaev, the singer lives in Moscow, and he arrived in Grozny to attend his sister's wedding party.

"On August 8 [in Grozny], he went out to run his own affairs. Since then, there is no information about him. The police also did not tell us anything," the edition "Kavkaz.Realii" quotes today the female relative of Zelim Bakaev as saying.

In their turn, today, two friends of the singer who prefer to remain anonymous have reported that on August 8, Zelim Bakaev was kidnapped by people in military uniforms in the centre of Grozny, the "Rain" (Dozhd) TV Channel reports today.

Zelim Bakaev, a native of Grozny, is 26 years old. According to the music service "Guvera", in 2015, Zelim Bakaev "became the most popular performer among Chechen listeners," the "Grozny-Inform" reported. "It turned out that during the past 12 months, most of all listeners from Chechnya were searching for the Zelim Bakaev's songs," the "Grozny-Inform" reported on January 13, 2016.
