Iraqi authorities refuse to give out children from Dagestan to Chechnya

The Iraqi authorities have agreed to transfer children of Dagestani residents who joined terrorists only to delegates of the republic. This was reported by a member of the Chechen Diaspora in Jordan.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that the authorities of Russia are trying to return 48 children taken to Syria and Iraq by their parents who joined terrorists. They cannot be sent to Russia because of the absence of documents to confirm their citizenship.

On August 2, Ramzan Kadyrov announced the return to Chechnya of a boy who was taken by his father to Syria and found in the Iraqi city of Mosul. Several other Chechen children stay in a Baghdad orphanage, reported the authorities of Chechnya.

According to the member of the Chechen Diaspora, the Iraqi authorities insist on DNA-examination to prove blood relationship of relatives with their children.

A number of children taken to Iraq and Syria from Dagestan varied from 200 up to 1000, the "Chernovik" reports.

In Baghdad, according to Abbas Yasin, the chief of the "Red Crescent" in Iraq, children are treated in accordance with humanitarian standards.

The authorities of Dagestan are engaged in activities to return home about 10 children, reported Marina Yezhova, Ombudsman for Children's Rights and Protection of Family and Motherhood.

On July 31, Facebook user Ayat Abdurakhmanova called on Dagestani residents to contact the Iraqi authorities to return their relatives home.

She has also urged residents of Dagestan to prepare for a trip to Iraq.
