Murad Ragimov's defence points to discrepancies in witness’ testimonies

At trial, a fighter of the National Guard of Russia, involved in detention of Dagestani native Murad Ragimov, has said that he did not enter the Murad Ragimov's apartment and sees him for the first time in his life. In the course of the investigation, the same witness described in detail how Murad Ragimov rendered resistance during his detention. This was reported by a defendant's advocate.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on August 30, 2016, law enforcers detained Murad Ragimov in Moscow on suspicion of involvement in militant groupings in Syria, as well as in an attack on policemen in Dagestan. After the law enforcers found out that Murad Ragimov could not leave Russia, they searched his apartment for a long time and, with their witnesses, claimed the discovery of drugs, said relatives of the young man. Since September 2016, Murad Ragimov is kept in custody on the charge of illegal possession of drugs.

Today, the Tushino District Court of Moscow has held a third hearing in the Murad Ragimov's case. At that hearing, the court questioned a prosecution witness, a fighter of the National Guard of Russia, involved in detention of Murad Ragimov, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent reports.

When answering the advocate's questions concerning the use of force against the defendant during the detention, the fighter of the National Guard said that he saw Murad Ragimov at the trial for the first time and could say nothing on the merits. This was reported by Mikhail Karplyuk, a Murad Ragimov's advocate, a member of the Moscow Bar Association "Novy Arbat".

The advocate has noted that the same National Guard fighter gave other evidence in the course of the investigation.

"For example, he said that he took part in the assault, that they had to use force against Murad Ragimov because of his resistance. He even said that Murad Ragimov was throwing plates at them in the kitchen," Mikhail Karplyuk told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.
