200 NKR residents take part in development of local tourism
The Economy Ministry of the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic (NKR) has initiated bus tourist trips over historical and architectural sights. Over five days, more than 200 people took part in the excursions, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent reports.
The bus tourist trips began on July 20 and will last until the end of August. Excursions are held daily in three directions: Stepanakert-Gandzasar Monastery in the Martakert District; Stepanakert-plane-tree (sycamore) of Tnjre, which is over 2000 years old, in the Martuni District, and Melikov Palace and the water world in Tog village in the Gadrut District; and Stepanakert – a natural-historical reserve of the Unot Gorge.
A minimum fee for special routes has been set at 250 drams (480 drams = 1 US dollar), the NKR’s Economy Ministry has reported.
The initiative is aimed at developing domestic tourism in the NKR.
"After the 2016 April war, the tourism sector proved to be the most vulnerable. This year, we paid much attention to make external and internal tourism more interesting," said Artak Grigoryan, the head of tourism management programmes of the above Ministry.
