NCFD power agents stop 190 potential militants from leaving abroad

Sergey Bachurin, the head of the Chief Department for the North-Caucasian Federal District (NCFD) of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA), has reported the prevention, since the start of the year, of 190 NCFD residents from joining terrorist organizations.

Earlier, North-Caucasian power agents reported about local residents at war for militants. Thus, according to the Dagestani MIA, some 1200 republic residents fight among Syrian militants; while the Chechen MIA stated that there may be over 600 residents of the republic who had joined militants. According to the FSB, 183 residents of Kabardino-Balkaria are at war for terrorists in Syria and Iraq.

"We’ve stopped the departure of 190 people who had planned to go abroad and join terrorist organizations there," the “Interfax” quotes Mr Bachurin as saying.

He has noted that in recent years, thanks to power agents’ work and the preventive measures taken by the clergy, the number of terror acts committed in the NCFD has decreased.

Also, the information counteraction to extremism is going on, the "Caucasus Today" reports. Thus, over the past six months, 834 sources with attributes of extremist ideology have been revealed on the Internet.
