Tumsu Abdurakhmanov reports his detention in Georgia

Tumsu Abdurakhmanov, a native of Grozny, put in Russia on the federal wanted list, has reported about his detention in Tbilisi. The Georgian Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) has not confirmed the information.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on October 31, 2016, the Georgian Ministry for Refugees refused to grant political asylum to Tumsu Abdurakhmanov. The Grozny native himself appealed against the above decision. Meanwhile, the Human Rights Centre (HRC) "Memorial" requested the General Prosecutor's Office of Russia to intervene in the Tumsu Abdurakhmanov's case. On April 23, the Tbilisi Court upheld the decision of the Georgian Ministry for Refugees.

Tumsu Abdurakhmanov associates the criminal proceedings against him with his conflict with a top-ranking official, a relative of the Chechen leader. According to Tumsu Abdurakhmanov, he had to leave Chechnya for Georgia "after threats voiced by a top-ranking official, one of the Ramzan Kadyrov's relatives" and "fabrication of a criminal case against him on involvement in foreign illegal armed formations (IAFs) in Syria."

According to Tumsu Abdurakhmanov, he was detained in Tbilisi. The man claims that he is being in custody, but he could not mention the reason for his detention.

Meanwhile, the Georgian MIA has not confirmed the information about the detention of Tumsu Abdurakhmanov.
