German police detain Chechen woman suspected of IS involvement

Aminat Akueva, a resident of Chechnya, who left for Syria several years ago and was put on the international wanted list, was detained by Interpol. She stays in Berlin, and the Chechen law enforcement agencies expect her to be extradited. This was reported by the law enforcement agencies of the Chechen Republic. Relatives of the detained woman deny her involvement in militants' ranks.

According to the law enforcement agencies, in 2014, 25-year-old Aminat Akueva left for Syria and for some time she was a member of the terrorist organization "Islamic State" (IS) banned in Russia by court. In 2016, the woman was put on the international wanted list.

The relatives of Aminat Akueva have confirmed that she was "detained late last week in Berlin." "As far as we know, she was allowed to stay at home until the trial. She takes care of a minor child, and she is preparing to give birth to another one. She did not fight anywhere, she just left to join her husband, and she was put on the international wanted list," the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was told by a female relative of Aminat Akueva.

According to the woman, Aminat Akueva was born in Kazakhstan and then moved with her parents to Chechnya. The female relative believes that in case of extradition, Aminat Akueva will be subjected to "torture and prison." "Everyone knows how the people who were in Syria are treated at our place," the woman said. She has also added that the relatives hope Aminat Akueva will stay in Germany.
