Tbilisi protesters demand to protect schoolchildren from influence of LGBT community

About 40 persons took part in the protest action in Tbilisi, the capital of Georgia, demanding not to introduce lessons of sexual education into school curricular, and not to change textbooks with account of the interests of the LGBT community.

The protest action organized by the NGO "Society for the Protection of Children's Rights" was held today in front of the building of the Ministry of Education and Sciences of Georgia. According to the estimates of the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent, about 40 people of different ages, including schoolchildren, came to take part in the action.

The protesters held posters reading: "Stop, no gender in schools!", "Prohibit LGBT disciplines 'Society and Myself' and 'My Georgia'!" and "Our children are in danger!", and protested against plans to add, since this September, lessons of sexual education and gender issues into the school curriculum.

"Lessons of sexual education and gender issues demoralize children, including in homosexuality, since they will have to take homosexual training... Against parents' and children's will... they introduce such issues into school education," Guram Palavandishvili, one of the organizers of the action and an activist of the "Society for the Protection of Children's Rights", told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.
