In Saint Petersburg, Dagestani native arrested on charge of organizing "Hizb ut-Tahrir" unit

In Saint Petersburg, a court has arrested a 31-year-old native of Dagestan, who, according to investigators, organized a cell of the terrorist organization "Hizb ut-Tahrir" in Russia. Earlier, he applied for asylum in Sweden, but was refused.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on November 8, 2016, six persons, including three natives of Dagestan, were detained in Saint Petersburg.

Before his arrest, Magomed Akhimov tried to get political asylum in Sweden, where he arrived with a tourist visa, but he was refused, the "Kommersant" reports.

He faces up to 10 years of imprisonment.
