Wife of Chechnya resident, accused of killing power agents, appeals Kadyrov

An open appeal of the wife of Rasambek Bekmurzaev, suspected of executing three officers of federal forces almost 17 years ago, has been spread through the WhatsApp. The woman states her husband's innocence and asks the head of Chechnya to help him to get back home.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that Rasambek Bekmurzaev, 37, was detained by special agents in Urus-Martan on June 21. It was reported that he gave confessions.

However, his innocence is stated in the message circulated among residents of Chechnya via the WhatsApp, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent reports.

The appeal to Ramzan Kadyrov of Kheda Eskaeva, Bekmurzaev's wife and a resident of Urus-Martan, states that Rasambek is the father of five children, the oldest being 13 years old, and the youngest is a six-month-old baby.

"My husband, who is in no way a 'terrorist', has nothing to do with such things," says the appeal.

"I don't know where my husband is and what his fate is, but I know that he is in the territory of the ChechenRepublic," Ms Eskaeva writes, adding that her husband was detained based on testimonies of three witnesses, which, as the woman suggests, could have been obtained under pressure.

Kheda Eskaeva, while noting that the head of the republic "has done and is doing a lot" for the Chechen people, Chechnya and the whole Caucasus, asks for his help in returning her husband home.
