Azerbaijani MoD releases video with interrogation of captured Armenian soldier

Today, the Azerbaijani Ministry of Defence (MoD) has announced the detention of an Armenian soldier. Azerbaijani military officials report that a member of a reconnaissance and sabotage unit of the Armenian armed forces was captured in the evening on June 20, while he was trying to cross the contact line.

Today, the Azerbaijani MoD has released a video record with an interrogation of a suspected member of the reconnaissance and sabotage unit from Armenia.

In the video record, a middle-aged man in a military waistcoat introduces himself and reports that he was born in the village of Dovekh of the Noyemberyan District of Armenia. The suspect adds that he lives now at the same village.

According to him, in the evening on June 20, being a member of a group of Armenian soldiers and officers, he moved forward towards the positions of the armed forces of Azerbaijan, using "unfavourable weather conditions: rain, fog, and darkness."

"Our aim was to attack the positions of the Azerbaijani armed forces and kill soldiers there," reports the man from the video.

According to the suspect, when his group was discovered by Azerbaijani soldiers, two persons were wounded. The man also reports that other members of his group took the wounded men and ran with them towards the Armenian positions, but he himself failed to escape. He decided to hide, but the soldiers of the Azerbaijani armed forces discovered and captured him.

Till present, the Ministries of Defence for Armenia and Nagorno-Karabakh have not yet commented on the video released by the Azerbaijani side.
