Nogai People's Congress notes intensified confrontation with Dagestani authorities

The ill-considered policy of the Dagestani authorities regarding the land of distant-pasture cattle tending can result in conflicts, and the solution of the land problem will have an important political significance. This opinion was voiced by participants of the All-Russian Nogai People's Congress interviewed by the "Caucasian Knot".

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on June 14, in the aul (village) of Terekli-Mekteb, about 6000 delegates from Russia took part in the Nogai People's Congress. Following its results, the participants adopted a resolution and an appeal to President Vladimir Putin with a request to solve the land problem.

It is of fundamental importance to transfer the lands of the Nogai District to the ownership of local self-administration, believes Ismail Cherkesov, a member of the organizing committee for the Nogai People's Congress.

According to him, it is also important to abolish the Dagestani Law "On the status of land of distant-pasture cattle tending in the Republic of Dagestan".

Eradil Tengizov, a delegate of the Nogai People's Congress, a founder of the Foundation for the Support of National Languages of Russia, has noted that "the Nogai people acted in a well-organized manner and were able to unite in the face of common danger."

The Nogai People's Congress was attended by actual leaders of the Nogai people, Eradil Tengizov has added.

He treats the policy of the Dagestani authorities in the Nogai, Tarumovka, Babayurt, and Kizlyar Districts as unreasonable. Eradil Tengizov has also mentioned the danger of provoking interethnic conflicts.

Till present, the press service of the leader and government of Dagestan has not yet commented on the statements voiced by the participants of the Nogai People's Congress.
