Grozny residents claim being obliged to participate in march on Russia Day

In the capital of Chechnya, the "Parade of the Peoples of Russia" in honour of Russia Day is expected to be attended by several thousand people. This was reported by the Grozny City Mayor's Office. Public employees and students claimed that they were obliged to take part in the march.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that in Chechnya, public employees and students of institutions of high education regularly report on their forced participation in mass festive events. So, on May 10, residents of Grozny claimed being forced to take part in the procession of the "Immortal Regiment", and on May 1 in the May Day rally.

Today, law enforcers have closed the centre of Grozny for traffic, reports Murad, a local resident. According to him, there were big traffic jams in some places.

Starting from June 11, the law enforcement agencies of Chechnya transferred to an enhanced service regime, reports the Chechen Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA).

Today, Grozny is for the first time host an All-Russian action "Parade of the Peoples of Russia", reports an official from the city administration. Meanwhile, in Grozny, no anticorruption actions, like in other regions, will be held.

"Last Friday, we were warned that on June 12, we would have to take part in a march on the occasion of the Day of Russia. Our bosses were gathered in front of the mosque 'The Heart of Chechnya' to determine the places where their schools and institutions would stay. Besides, it was also announced that marchers would have to form a multi-kilometre flag of Russia," said an employee of one of the Grozny institutions of high education.
