Debate at Nemtsov's murder trial ended with advocate's request to acquit Zaur Dadaev

On June 8, the Moscow District Military Court ended the debate of the parties in Boris Nemtsov murder case.

Boris Nemtsov was shot dead on February 27, 2015, in Moscow. The defendants in the case are the natives of Chechnya and Ingushetia Zaur Dadaev, the brothers Anzor and Shagid (also named by mass media as Shadid) Gubashev, Tamerlan Eskerkhanov and Khamzat Bakhaev. Investigators believe that Ruslan Mukhudinov was the customer of the murder.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on May 31, the Moscow District Military Court announced the investigation in the case to be completed. On June 1, a public prosecutor found the defendants' guilt to be proven and asked the jury to pronounce a verdict of guilty.

At the court hearing on June 8, Mark Kaverzin, an advocate of Zaur Dadaev, has presented his arguments. During five hours, he was convincing the jurors to pronounce the verdict of acquittal with regard to his client.

At the end of his speech, the advocate has called on the jurors to "think with the heart and life experience," to be guided by "common sense and logic," and to take into account the lack of evidence that it was Zaur Dadaev who shot at Boris Nemtsov.

In his speech, Mark Kaverzin tried not to miss all possible disputable moments and shortcomings of the investigation. At the same time, he was convincing the jury that any valid doubts should be interpreted in favour of the defendants, the "BBC" reports.

The "BBC" notes that the hearings at the Moscow District Military Court have reached their final stage: all participants of the trial will be able to once again make the so-called replicas, i.e., their objections to their opponents' speeches during the debate. Then, the defendants will come out with their final speeches and after that the jury will leave the courtroom to make a verdict.
