MIA states absence of terrorist groupings in KBR

More than 100 citizens have left the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic (KBR) to take part in terrorist organizations, while there are no terrorist groupings left in the republic, Nazir Mamkhegov, the Deputy Head of the KBR's Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA), has stated. Since the start of the year, 10 persons gave turned to the republic's adaptation commission for former militants, said Zalim Kashirokov, Minister for the Prevention of Youth Extremism.

A briefing on the prevention of youth extremism was held in Nalchik on June 6, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent reports.

Mr Kashirokov has noted that "given the open information space, radical ideas penetrate the youth ambient around the world."

According to his story, during the last 1.5 years, 28 persons have turned to the above adaptation commission.

Nazir Mamkhegov has noted that for a decade before 2016, "the criminal situation in the republic was complicated."

"We managed to reverse the situation was reversed. The armed underground was partially neutralized and partially isolated," he has added, however, admitting that "quite many KBR's residents are at war in the Middle East among terrorists, but we managed to stop the outflow of young people to these organizations."
