Police detain opponents of juvenile justice on picket in Volgograd

In Volgograd, Anna Pobezhimova and Victor Shilin, activists of the "All-Russian Parents' Resistance", who held solo pickets, were brought to the police.

Today, the pickets have been started in front of the presidential reception in the centre of Volgograd. In their hands, Anna Pobezhimova and Victor Shilin were holding posters with the portraits of Vladimir Putin speaking at the congress of the "All-Russian Parents' Resistance" and a call to the President reading: "Do not sign the 'Strategy for Children' without discussing it with the public."

Policemen have suggested the activists to go to the police station and give explanations.

The "Caucasian Knot" correspondent has been told by Anna Pobezhimova that the solo pickets were held against the actions of Children's Ombudsman Anna Kuznetsova and her actions on studying the foreign experience of taking children out of their families.

The Russian National Children's Strategy for 2012-2017 expires this year. By the International Children's Day (June 1), a new strategy is expected to be signed for the period of up to 2027, reports the website of the "All-Russian Parents' Resistance". In May, Anna Kuznetsova visited Finland, a "flagship country for the introduction of tough juvenile justice," where she agreed on an "exchange of experience."

Earlier, in Volgograd, activists of the organization "All-Russian Parents' Resistance" collected signatures against the law on criminal responsibility for punishment of children.
