Street in Makhachkala named after Nurbagandov brothers

In the Lenin District of Makhachkala, Nikolaev Street was named in honour of Magomed Nurbagandov, a staff member of the Dagestani Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA), and his brother Abdurashid Nurbagandov, who were killed by militants. The renaming of the street was reported by the administration of Makhachkala.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on July 10, 2016, in the village of Sergokala, two young people were shot and killed, including policeman Magomed Nurbagandov. Later, in a mobile phone of one of the militants killed in the course of the special operation in Izberbash, law enforcers discovered a video of the shooting of Magomed Nurbagandov.

On September 21, 2016, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a decree on awarding the Dagestani policeman the title of Hero of Russia posthumously. On May 25, Musa Musaev, Mayor of the Dagestani capital, reported that a monument to Magomed Nurbagandov would be built.

At present, according to Fatima Ashurbekova, the chief of the press service of the Makhachkala administration, reconstruction works are underway in Nurbagandov Brothers Street. After their completion, the official opening of Nurbagandov Brothers Street will take place. A monument will be erected on the same street.

On November 28, the "Caucasian Knot" reported that in the Dakhadaev District of Dagestan, the name of Magomed Nurbagandov was awarded to the Dibgalik secondary school. Besides, a street in Grozny was named in honour of Magomed Nurbagandov, and on December 31, deputies of the City Duma of Krasnodar decided to give the name of Magomed Nurbagandov to a street in the Prikubansky District.
