PACE appoints special rapporteur on case of Boris Nemtsov's murder
The Legal Committee of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) has appointed Emanuelis Zingeris, a member of the Lithuanian delegation, special rapporteur on the case of the Boris Nemtsov's murder.
Boris Nemtsov was shot dead on February 27, 2015, in Moscow. The defendants in the case are the natives of Chechnya and Ingushetia Zaur Dadaev, the brothers Anzor and Shagid (also named by mass media as Shadid) Gubashev, Tamerlan Eskerkhanov and Khamzat Bakhaev. Investigators believe that Ruslan Mukhudinov was the customer of the murder.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that in this January, the PACE declared its readiness to take control over the investigation into the Boris Nemtsov's murder. Zhanna Nemtsova, a daughter of the murdered politician, insisted on the appointment of the PACE special rapporteur on the case of her father's murder.
At the meeting held on March 10, following the results of the voting, the PACE Standing Committee has adopted the decision to instruct the committee on legal issues to prepare a report on the circumstances of the Boris Nemtsov's murder. 19 deputies voted "in favour", and 8 "against", while the rest abstained.
Emanuelis Zingeris will prepare a report after the Moscow District Military Court pronounces the verdict, expectedly in June, the "Kommersant" notes with reference to the statements of Emanuelis Zingeris himself, Zhanna Nemtsova, and her advocate Vadim Prokhorov.
To prepare his report, Emanuelis Zingeris plans to collect materials about the progresses of the investigation and of the consideration in court.
