At trial, publicist Rizvan Ibragimov complains about torture by electric current

In Grozny, at the trial in the case against Rizvan Ibragimov, the publicist has claimed that he was kidnapped by law enforcers in April 2016, and after that, he was tortured with electric current. Rizvan Ibragimov called the following meeting with Ramzan Kadyrov a "public humiliation."

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that in July 2016, the court of Chechnya found the Rizvan Ibragimov's books extremist, and a criminal case was instituted against the publicist under Article "Raising hatred or enmity, as well as humiliation of human dignity." The court has also pronounced the decision to send the publicist to Makhachkala for a compulsory psychiatric examination.

Before the court hearing, scheduled for May 5, Rizvan Ibragimov prepared a motion in the name of Judge Kh. Nalaeva and published its text on his page in Facebook.

Rizvan Ibragimov has complained that he was kidnapped together with Abubakar Didiev and then subjected to torture.

Rizvan Ibragimov's story aroused great interest among the media, and in that connection the publicist requested the court to allow video broadcasting of the trial. The court granted the defendant's request and postponed the court hearing until May 19.

Historians interviewed by the "Caucasian Knot" have expressed their doubts concerning the scientific value of the Rizvan Ibragimov's works. They have noted that his prosecution by the authorities gained him more popularity than his works themselves.
