Kadyrov and Sechin threaten to sue Financial Times

The conflict of the head of Chechnya Ramzan Kadyrov with Igor Sechin, Director of the “Rosneft” Corporation, has escalated, which resulted in the appearance of a version of the "Chechen trace" in the Saint Petersburg terror act, the Financial Times newspaper has reported. In their joint statement, Kadyrov and Sechin refuted this information, threatening to sue the newspaper.

The newspaper has published today the information about the escalation of the Kadyrov vs Sechin in connection with the situation around Chechen enterprises with reference to the sources close to the “Rosneft” and familiar with the negotiations on the sale of Chechen assets of the Corporation.

The Financial Times says that because of the increased Sechin-Kadyrov confrontation, it became necessary to check the alleged terror act committed in Saint Petersburg on April 3, for its "links with Chechnya", the “Open Russia” writes.

On April 3, the terror act was committed in Saint Petersburg. As a result of an explosion in the metro 15 people died. The lists of people hospitalized with injuries after the explosion reached 51 persons.

Soon after the paper’s publication, the website of the “Rosneft” posted a joint statement of Kadyrov and Sechin, reading that they want to "clarify" the situation in the context of the fact that the publication contained "false information" about their relationships.

Besides, the authors of the statement reproach the Financial Times for "serving the provocations of criminal elements of the so-called ‘opposition’."

The statement ends with the following words: "The published and disseminated conjectures are knowingly unjustified and deliberate lies; therefore we are forced to consider the prospects of applying to courts of different jurisdictions."
