Alleged IS militant from Chechnya arrested in Turkey

A Turkish court has ruled to place behind bars Djamalali Gadjiev, a native of Chechnya, detained on April 4 on the Syrian-Turkish border. According to law enforcers, Gadjiev took part in warfare for the "Islamic State" (IS), a terrorist organization, banned in Russia by the court.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on April 4, the Turkish General Staff announced detention on the Turkish-Syrian border, of a Chechen, who had on him, according to the General Staff, 1.5 kg of explosive, fuses and two grenades. According to Turkish power agents, the detainee "had intended to commit a terror act."

The power agents, who questioned Gadjiev, believe that two years ago he joined the ranks of the IS; was wounded in the warfare, and then decided to leave Syria and get to Turkey through a tunnel dug under the concrete wall built along the border, the Turkish news agency “Anadolu” has reported today.

According to the agency, Gadjiev is charged with involvement in a terrorist organization; besides, Turkish power agents do not exclude that he tried to get into the country aiming to commit a terror act.
