Armenia: party in power wins enough votes to form stable majority without coalitions

The preliminary results of the parliamentary elections in Armenia suggest that the parliament of the new convocation will have 105 seats, of which 58 seats will be occupied by the ruling Republican Party, while three other political forces will get 47 seats. To reach a stable majority (54%), the party in power will need no coalition agreements.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that the voting at the Armenian parliamentary elections was held on April 2. According to preliminary results, the ruling Republican Party is leading with 49.12% of all the votes; the "Tsarukyan" bloc gains 27.32%; the "Elk" bloc is in the third place with 7.7% of all the votes; and the ARF "Dashnaktsutyun" Party – 6.57%.

The Republicans will form a stable majority with their 58 seats; the "Tsarukyan" bloc will get 31 seats; the "Elk" bloc – 9 seats; and remaining seven seats will go to the ARF "Dashnaktsutyun" Party.
